Guest Speaker

Today we had a guest speaker in blogging class. His name is Dr. Kurt Hochenaner. How did Hochenaner get start in blogging? He was working in journalism at different news rooms and realized there was a need for liberal writing in Oklahoma. In 2004 he opened up a blog named Okie Funk. His blog has been in the news from different media sources.

What I learned from Hochenaner to have a successful blog that will stand out be unique and have good writing. Another source to starting out with a blog make sure to have a stable platform example BlogSpot or Word Press. Watch out for spam in you blog this will cause the host server to suspend your blog for too much spam. When attacks come to one blog post try to talk about the idea and not the person.

Media Ethics Assignment

I went to Ethics in Broadcast Journalism workshop one September 26, 2013. Some of what was discussed in this workshop was breaking news, do you choose speed over accuracy, difference between broadcasting journalism and print journalism and other interesting topics.

There wasn’t much talk on the subject in blogging media; however there was talk on other social media. One example was tweeting on twitter and if something just happen to be on the news one would tweet that incident letting the viewer’s know what has happen. They would also tweet that later information as it comes in would be tweeted, tweet a link to stations website, and mention watch the six o’clock news to check up on the incident that has happened. There are different ways one could follow up on a story.

I think that posting anything news related or other using a blog would be another way to reach out to those who use blog, but don’t use another media source.

The strongest part in this workshop was focusing on past news coverage and how one could change the ethical part when they are the one covering a story rather in broadcasting, print or other. I didn’t catch a weakest part. Overall the workshop was very informational.

No more Donuts

The other day Sara Lee donuts was on sale at Crest.
I bought a bag of frosted chocolate donuts. This bag
lasted about a week for me. That is a long time for
me to be able to do, for I love eating sweets. I had to
say good-bye to this bag and maybe the next time I go
to Crest or another grocery store I will pick up another
bag or other kind of sweets.

I am going to write about blog 8 Burrito Blog. What interested me about this blog was the burrito itself and wanted to have one. Now to the assingment some strengths from this blog would be topics concerning burritos with images, videos and a text written. This would include restaurants, articles, jokes, and etc. How it is lined up easy and organized with each post, and how the pictures are neat along with the text beside, below, and above are some ideas about blogging that I got from this for my blog.

One weakness I found is the list of restaurant at the top and to the right page seems to be too much information at one time when one see it for the first time. How could I improve. I would have to play around with blogger in order to get ideas on how to change at this time. Other than that the blog is well layout.
